The Human Communication and Interaction Research Group www.hci-rg.comYou are in the section: Research (Programs).
Our research work is organized into several research programs, which are aimed towards the achievement of our main long-term goals. These research programs are usually developed thorough our financed projects.
The complete list of our research programs is included below. It will give you a better sense of our research trends.
This program explores the augmented reality capabilities provided by handheld devices in combination with geographic location systems.
Our system provides multimedia resources to the client device depending on the geographic location of the user.
ANTS (Automatic Navigability Testing System) is an agent-based technology able to observe users across multiple navigation sessions, registering their behaviour and determining their level of accuracy and expertise.
The agents work in the user's computer environment, storing the data gathered in a remote server for further analysis. This behaviour avoids the use of expensive laboratories for basic usability testing.

This program develops intelligent teaching agents able to create learning objects, which are adapted to the requirements of the users.
The system provides a collaborative environment for the exchange of resources between teachers and students.

This intelligent user interface management system adapts the user interface of any application to the specific cognitive, perceptive and motor requirements of each of its users.
The adaptation process is performed dynamically and in real time, separating the application's functionality from its user interface by mean of a code introspection-based algorithm.

This research program explores the use of network-based video games to develop new kinds of software interactive agents, as well as new ways of promoting social activities by mean computers.
The Inxena video game engine was used to develop several different kinds of games, including adventure, conversational, real time strategy (RTS) and classic (chess) video games.

Tirsus explores the advantages of a dynamic representation of the History, allowing the use of several mechanisms of association of ideas.
History is modelled using a semantic network of historic events based on a cause-effect relationship. Interactive tutoring intelligent agents explore this network to make inferences about specific historical events.
