Our Spearhead program is about to begin its fourth edition. This learning research program has as one of its main goals the introduction of classes of Computer Science in English language at the University of Oviedo.
The success of this program in previous editions encouraged the authorities of our University to allow in 2007 the use of English language in any academic subject.

Our research mate José R. Bobes-Bascarán got his Master on Research in Science in Engineering last week obtaining the maximum possible evaluation rank.
His thesis dissertation was about user interface adaptation targeted to users suffering dementia. The research was done in the scope of our award winning reseach program -code-named- Gadea.

Our research mate Marta Ruíz García has been selected as a candidate to work as a Computer Scientist in the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
Although she will join their crew next October, she still will be member of our group as the project manager of the TIRSVS research program.

Our group has signed and agreement with the Mirada TV company for the development of the code-named project SIAM.
The main goal of this project is the development of interactive hardware and software devices to give support to ambient intellegence technologies at home, based on state of the art video game consoles, such as Nintendo's Wii and Sony Playstation 3.

Our proposal for a Course on Ruby on Rails for the next Autum has been approved by the authorities of the University of Oviedo as a 4,5 credits University Extension Course.
The seminar will take place at the EUITIO in Oviedo from November 17 to 21, 2008. Its official name is Introducción al Desarrollo de Aplicaciones Web usando Ruby on Rails. More information about this and other seminars can be obtainted in the courses section of this site.

Our Photo Album has been updated with pictures of our last visit to the University of York last Autum.
Our group visited York and London to participate in a series of conferences and technology transference events, as well as meetings about the challenges of a European Higher Education Space in British universities.
